Chinatown

Chinatown in San Francisco is a wonderful place.  On this trip I came across a really cool carved and painted wooden wall in Canton Bazaar that somehow I had missed on a few prior visits – maybe my eyes were so saturated with retail merchandise that the backdrop was invisible to me? In any case, this time I saw it, and loved it, and took some (poor) shots of it (I blame the lighting!)…but at least enough to share an idea of the scale and beauty of it.

Here’s the widest shot I could get, given the layout of the place. This shows about 2/3 of the wall. Between 2 and 3 stories tall, maybe 35-40 feet wide?

And here are some close-ups of key areas of the carved mural.

Some close-ups of people.

And some close-ups of landscape details, foliage, etc.
